About the Tutor
Tutor: Steve Gartshore OxDip, BA Hi/Ed, EdCertEd, IMusF
Teaching since 2003, the tutor has previously taught guitar in Further Education Colleges, Primary and Secondary schools and Music Schools.
The tutor has performed in classical ensembles, folk duos, a Portsmouth-based rock band, and individually at private functions, as well as performing solo at different events and venues around the South. In 2002 he achieved 1st place in the Bach Section and 2nd place in Open Section at the Chichester Music Festival .
Prior to becoming a guitar teacher, the tutor had a ten year career in teaching adult students with physical and learning disabilities. He brings this experience into his guitar teaching offering a flexible approach to students with varying levels of ability and need. Since 2003 he has taught and supported students through exam based syllabuses up to grade 8.
He is currently based in Portsmouth teaching Acoustic and Electric Guitar.
The tutor is insured and holds an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Qualifications:
- Trinity College Classical Guitar Grade 8 (Distinction)
- Instrumental Music Facilitator (level 3)
- Portsmouth University Certificate in Further Education
- Oxford Uni Dip SocAd.
